Purpose of the Position:

This position requires an excellent team player who is results-oriented and will work on-site at the Pasadena, California facility to develop and implement short and mid-long term procurement plans for commercial and developmental product lines that meet inventory and customer service targets.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Plan, schedule, execute and ensure on-time procurement of finished goods, sub-assemblies and raw materials.
  • Manage inventory levels to support commercial and clinical manufacturing schedules and safety stock goals.
  • Create and track metrics such as inventory turns and supplier performance.
  • Adhere to QSR, ISO, GMP, FDA and supply chain best practices requirements and guidelines.
  • Responsibility for managing purchase orders from placement to payment.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters in Planning/ERP system.
  • Provide daily direction of subordinate buyer.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (MFG/PRO, preferred) with concentration on Purchasing, Inventory, Planning, Manufacturing modules.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and supplier sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cost savings and value improvement projects.
  • Ability to handle varied and complex inventories with untraditional unit of measures.
  • Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Buyer or Production Planner.
  • CPM or APICS CPIM/CIRM preferred.
  • Experience within an FDA regulated business is highly desirable.

Language Skills:  Must be proficient in writing, and communicating in the English language. 

 

Mathematical Skills:  Must be consistent with college level education

 

Reasoning Ability:  Great problem solving, judgment and decision making skill are required.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Training in GMP, ISO, FDA compliance is desirable.

Work entails regularly performing tasks while working at a computer, desk and laboratory bench or automated machine. Work may involve occasional climbing or balance.  Work entails occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.  Work occasionally requires travel between buildings.  This is typically completed by foot or by car.
The employee’s sensory modalities (vision, hearing, smell) and physical capabilities (ambulation without mechanical assistance, strength, coordination, dexterity, range of motion) must be sufficient to independently perform duties/functions of the position.

This position will involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments.
