Purpose of the Position: Responsible for research and/or development of molecular diagnostic test kits, reagents and procedures in a team environment. Performs experiments independently after receiving general direction from supervisor. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Maintains and develops skills in molecular biology and company technology through reading of internal reports and scientific literature.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Performs experiments related to PCR amplification of target sequences; including experimental design, set-up, data collection and analysis.
- Performs experiments related to eSensor® chip detection and measurement of nucleic acid targets; including experimental design, set-up, data collection and analysis.
- General molecular biology tasks, including DNA quantification, analysis by gel electrophoresis, cloning, etc.
- Preparation of documents, including data summaries, reports, SOPs and procedures.

Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Master of Science (M.S.) degree in chemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related field or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 to 8 years experience with a Bachelors or 2 to 5 years with a Masters and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles.
Language Skills: Must be proficient in writing, and communicating in the English language.
Mathematical Skills: Must be consistent with claimed level of education. Knowledge of and practical experience with statistics is desirable.
Reasoning Ability: Good problem solving, judgment and decision making skill are required.

Work entails regularly performing tasks while working at a computer, desk, laboratory bench or automated machine. Work may involve occasional climbing or balance.
