Christopher Gleeson

Non-executive Chairman appointed to the board on 1 July 2009. Mr. Gleeson was formerly President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of automated diagnostic systems to the anatomical pathology market. Following the acquisition of Ventana by Roche in February 2008 for $3.4 billion, Mr. Gleeson became a member of the Board of Roche Diagnostics. Prior to joining Ventana, Mr. Gleeson was senior vice-president of Bayer Diagnostics and general manager of the U.S. commercial operations for Chiron Diagnostics, and prior to that, the founder, owner, and managing director of Australian Diagnostics Corporation. Mr. Gleeson attended the Pharmacy and Business Schools at Monash University in Australia. (Date of Birth – 6 September 1949)

Jon Faiz Kayyem

Chief Executive Officer appointed to the board on 1 January 2009 as Chairman, becoming Vice Chairman on 1 July 2009 and assuming the role as Chief Executive Officer on 28 August 2009. Dr Kayyem attended Yale University and received his combined Master and Bachelor of Sciences in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in 1985. He went on to graduate school at The California Institute of Technology (“Caltech”) and received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 1991. Dr. Kayyem remained at Caltech as a Senior Research Fellow for several years until 1995, when he founded Clinical Micro Sensors to commercialize technical innovations he developed while at Caltech. In 2000, Clinical Micro Sensors was sold to Motorola Inc for US$280 million, and subsequently bought by Osmetech in 2005. In 2004, Dr. Kayyem left Clinical Micro Sensors and co-founded biotechnology fund management company, Efficacy Capital Limited. (Date of Birth – 15 February 1964)

David Sandilands

Chief Financial Officer. Previously Group Finance Director of London-listed Bluebird Toys, until its take-over by Mattel Inc. Mr. Sandilands qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. He was appointed to the Board in July 1999. As Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Director, Mr Sandilands is responsible for the Group's financial reporting, treasury and financial management functions. (Date of Birth – 11 April 1961)

Daryl Faulkner

Non-executive Director appointed to the board on 12 August 2008, serving as non-executive Chairman until 31 December 2008. Formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of molecular diagnostics company, Digene Corporation, and a member of its board of directors prior to its sale to Qiagen N.V. in 2007. Prior to joining Digene, Mr. Faulkner spent eight years at Invitrogen Corp., a life sciences company, serving in several senior level capacities. Previously, Mr. Faulkner served for 15 years in a variety of roles at Abbott Laboratories Inc., a diversified healthcare company. (Date of Birth – 15 November 1948)
