The Osmetech®, SensiTube™, eSensor® and GeneSensor™ brands are all owned by Osmetech, plc and/or its wholly-owned US subsidiary corporations, Clinical Micro Sensors, Inc. and Osmetech, Inc.  Pursuant to a sale of assets made to Idexx Laboratories in January 2007, the SensiTube™ and GeneSensor™ brand names replace the OptiTube® and OptiGene® brand names, with the underlying products remaining essentially the same.

 

Patents

Many of these rights, including the use of self-assembling monolayer (SAM) technology, are rooted in exclusive licenses taken from the likes of Harvard University, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), The University of North Carolina and Concordia University, and particular fields of use may be available for sublicensing.
SensiTube™ technology is also proprietary to Osmetech and the subject of a British patent (GB2409659 B), a German Utility Model (DE20320951U U1), and numerous other applications pending worldwide, including in the United States and Europe. Osmetech has also taken various nonexclusive licenses to third party technology, including array technology from Oxford Gene Technology (OGT), electrochemical detection technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and various single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) content from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Johns Hopkins University, University of Michigan, Hospital for Sick Children, LGC Ltd, and Epidauros Biotechnologie AG.  An agreement in principal has also been reached with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. for use and supply of Osmetech PCR reagents and kits.
