Robust, Cost-effective Alternative
to Your Glass PCR Capillary Tubes
The SensiTube™ product line consists of plastic tubes, ergonomically designed sealing caps and a carousel for use in the Roche LightCycler® as a replacement for the Roche glass capillaries, sealing cap and carousel. SensiTube™ is a robust alternative solution that eliminate the dangers of glass breakage and minimize the risk of laboratory personnel exposure to potentially dangerous samples and glass shards.
SensiTube™’s excellent optical properties result from Osmetech’s use of a PCR compatible cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) plastic, known as TOPAS®. These patented TOPAS® tubes have excellent thermal conducting properties and a high surface to volume ratio that allows rapid thermal cycling while providing a breakage resistant reaction vessel. The elimination of the fragile glass capillaries means that laboratories are less likely to be contaminated with amplicon due to tube breakage. In addition, the risk of exposure to laboratory personnel of potentially dangerous samples and glass shards is minimized.
